Polish-born, London-based Chris Wronski is the chairman of global thematic channel broadcaster and distributor Chello Zone, the company he founded more than 15 years ago.

Born in 1961, Chris moved to the United Kingdom as a teenager to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He trained at the Barbican Overseas Film Training school in London, and on graduating began his professional life in the music business. He soon carved out a respected reputation for his work representing blue chip entertainment clients on media strategy and distribution in Eastern and Central Europe.

Chris established Chello Zone (then called Zone Vision) in 1991, using his experience to seize the opportunities presented by the burgeoning cable and satellite market in Eastern and Central Europe.

Chris’s vision and commitment has been the driving force behind Chello Zone’s dynamic global growth. In 2005, Chellomedia, a subsidiary of Liberty Global Inc., acquired a majority share in Chello Zone (then called Zone Vision). As chairman, he continues to develop and expand the company, which today broadcasts nine thematic channels to over 325 million households in more than 125 countries.

The father of two lives life in top gear; to relax he indulges in a personal passion for fast cars and Formula One racing.

Chief Executive Officer

Dermot Shortt joined Chello Zone as CEO in January 2002 following the investment by Advent International. He was instrumental in expanding the group’s global broadcasting division from 7 million to 150 million subscribers and guiding the company though it’s sale to Chellomedia.

Prior to joining he was a founding member of Discovery Networks Europe (DNE) and was instrumental in expanding the reach of the company and developing their digital channels growing subscribers to 92 million across the region. Prior to joining DNE, Dermot worked in Corporate Recovery and for General Electric’s NBC.

He is married with three children.

   
Shane O'Neill
Chief Strategy Officer - Liberty Global
President - chellomedia

As the Chief Strategy Officer of Liberty Global, Shane heads up the company’s strategic planning, M&A and corporate development activities. He is also President of chellomedia, Liberty Global’s European content and services division, and responsible for the division’s development. Shane joined UPC NV in 1999 and was appointed to his present positions in April 2002 and January 2003 respectively.

From 1992 to 1997, Mr. O'Neill worked at Goldman Sachs in its New York, Sydney and London offices. Most recently, he was an Executive Director in the Advisory Group for Goldman Sachs in London where he was responsible for providing advice on mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate finance to a number of companies in the media and communications industry, including UPC.

   
Angela Mcmullen
Chief Financial Officer, chellomedia

Angela has been with chellomedia since 2001. Prior to joining chellomedia, Liberty Global’s content and services division, Angela was with the Walt Disney Company for 8 years where she was SVP of Finance for Walt Disney International - UK and prior to that she had the role of VP European Finance for the Buena Vista Home Entertainment division.

Angela has a BA (Hons) in Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. Married with three children.

   
Niall Curran
Chief Operating Officer, chellomedia

Niall Curran is Chief Operating Officer of the chellomedia division of Liberty Global. Niall has been with the group since 2000.

Prior to this, Niall was with the Walt Disney Company and part of the management team responsible for the international development of Disney channels, TV investments and programme distribution and production businesses. He is married with two children.

   
Nimrod Kovacs
Executive Chairman, UPC Central and Eastern Europe

Nimrod is Executive Chairman of UPC’s Central and Eastern Europe business, which covers the countries of Hungary, Poland, Romania, The Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia.

Nimrod received BA from University of Colorado and a Masters Degree from the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, Arizona in 1977. Nimrod first worked in advertising with clients such as American Airlines, Hershey Foods, General Foods, Miles Laboratories (Alka Seltzer) and New York State. In 1982 Nimrod joined the cable industry, working for United Cable Television Corporation in Denver; first as their Director of Marketing, then later as their VP of Marketing, Programming and Communications.

In 1989, after the formation of United Artists Entertainment, Nimrod reported directly the company’s CEO and was in charge of strategic planning. At the same time, Nimrod became an investor/partner in a company which eventually evolved into Liberty Global, UPC’s parent company. Nimrod enjoys wines and spending time with his wife and 3 children.

Chief Programming Officer
General Manager

A highly experienced media player, Chris Sharp joined Chello Zone (then called Zone Vision) in 1992 with joint responsibility for establishing and managing Chello Zone. With initial responsibility for programme sales, he now oversees and manages all programming, scheduling and on air for Chello Zone’s own branded channels.

Chris Sharp began his career in the media industry in 1986 at The Music Channel and from there he joined Super Channel, gaining wide experience in a number of positions in Ad sales and Finance. He joined thematic channel Music Box in 1989 and was responsible for the international distribution of its portfolio of programming.

   
Tanya Gugenheim
Chief Business Development & New Media Officer

Tanya Gugenheim is Chief Business Development and New Media Officer at Chello Zone, a leading international broadcaster and distributor of thematic television channels.

After gaining a Masters degree in Military Strategy from the University of London, Tanya opted to pursue a career in television.

Tanya joined Chello Zone in 1999 and since that time has headed up a number of the company’s key departments including legal, business development and corporate PR.

As Chief Business Development and New Media Officer, Tanya is responsible for all new business, mergers and acquisitions and new territory and channel deals around the world. She also manages the company’s newly launched division Zone 360, which leverages Chello Zone’s expertise operating a diverse broadcast portfolio to offer innovative business solutions across multiple platforms.

Tanya was executive producer of the award-winning made-for-mobile horror series When Evil Calls, which launched last year.

Before joining Chello Zone, Tanya worked at Chiltern Group Plc (formerly Edsaco Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Union Bank of Switzerland) where she was involved with the management buy out of the company from UBS and the subsequent reorganization and strategic direction of the group.
